The Mysterious Woman in White Said to Adele…“Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they need to know for their salvation. Go and fear nothing. I will help you.”

To this day, Champion Shrine continues to be a place of refuge and peace for thousands of pilgrims who travel here to pray for help and healing through the intercession of Our Lady of Champion.

Staying true to Mary’s request of Adele, the Shrine serves as an environment that fosters the teaching of the Catholic faith to children and adults, in addition to being a place to encounter Jesus in the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Anointing of the Sick.

October 14 – Cleveland to Milwaukee Flight

Tour & Lunch at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Milwaukee. St. George is a parish rich in tradition, rooted in the East and witnessing Christ to the modern world.

As Melkite-Greek Catholics, we are heirs of the ancient Church of Antioch “where the disciples were first called Christians” (Acts 11:26). The community was founded over a hundred years ago to serve the needs of Christians from the Middle East—Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan.

The Basilica of Saint Josaphat
October 14 (continued)

Mass & Tour The Saint Josaphat Parish, formed in 1888 as an offshoot of Saint Stanislaus Parish and subsequently became the largest Polish parish in Wisconsin.

Poles were the largest group of European immigrants who settled in Milwaukee after 1870. Attracted by the promise of jobs, religious freedom, and avoiding compulsory military service, Poles population swelled to nearly 60,000 by 1900—second only to Germans. Poles were uniformly Catholic, and the church became the social as well as the spiritual center for their communities. There were seven Polish Catholic churches in Milwaukee by 1900, each with its own parochial school.

This burgeoning immigrant community desired to construct a church to meet the needs of its more than 12,000 parishioners in the late 19th century. Ground was broken in 1896 and the new building would be finished in 1901.
